To me, that's counter to what I would have wanted - as I was hoping for a fully modern iteration of System Shock - taking full advantage of modern hardware and the Unreal engine with the best assets that time and effort would allow for. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted a modern game or a retro game - so they did something halfway in-between.
